The Georgian College Emergency Bursary is designed to assist students who are experiencing financial hardship during their studies due to circumstances beyond their control.

A financial emergency is defined as a situation that could not have been reasonably anticipated during your current academic year. Here are several examples:

unanticipated housing emergencies caused by family disintegration or possibly dangerous living situations; emergency medical conditions or unexpected costs; fire, theft, or accident; and other extreme events not anticipated by the student.

The following are some examples of situations that do not qualify for the Emergency Bursary:

OSAP funding are delayed; inadequate budgeting results in a financial gap for normal expenses such as rent, transportation, food, and other necessities; and routine medical bills not covered by your health insurance (i.e. over-the-counter medications, replacement glasses or contacts, etc.).

You must be deemed an Ontario resident: You must have lived in Ontario for at least 12 months prior to starting classes at Georgian College.
You must be a citizen, permanent resident, or protected person in Canada.
For the current academic year, you must have submitted an OSAP application.
You must be enrolled in a postsecondary program and in good standing for the current academic year.
You must present emergency proof and submit your request at least two weeks before the conclusion of your study period.

What is the Indigenous Student Bursary?

The Indigenous Student Bursary provides financial assistance to Indigenous students who are enrolled in one of the following institutions:

Who is eligible?

You must be deemed an Ontario resident: You must have lived in Ontario for at least 12 months prior to starting classes at Georgian College.

Who is eligible?

Students of Métis heritage who are in financial need and enrolled in any year, in any program, at any Georgian College site are eligible.
Complete and deliver the Métis Nation of Ontario Bursary Application form to the Financial Aid and Awards office.
